Romas Zubrickas finished 20th in Belgium
Two Klaipėda team members Romas Zubrickas and Denas Masiulis are currently representing the Lithuanian National team at „Sint-Martinusprijs Kontich“ – junior (17-18 years) stage race held in Belgium. R. Zubrickas, National junior champion, ranked highest among other Lithuanian cyclists on Saturday. Romas finished 20th in the second stage.
Dutch Carlo van der Berg won the stage. He completed 126 km distance in 2:49.18 (average speed – 44.65 km/h). Cyclists in between 2nd and 71st position were classified with the same race time.
The British cyclist Jacob Vaughan takes the GC leaders’ position at the race which is included in the International Cycling Union (UCI) calendar. R. Zubrickas enjoys the highest position among Lithuania riders (+51 sec.). He is classified 44th.
148 out of 163 cyclists initially classified, currently continue the competition. Alanas Marcinkenas quit the race on Saturday. Mantas Januškevičius, Kęstutis Vaitaitis and Aristidas Kelmelis are still representing the Lithuania National Junior Team (coached by Arturas Šiugždinis).
In the first stage (17 km TTT) Lithuania National team classified 12th leaving 16 teams behind.
The five stage race will end on Monday.
